We look forward to bringing innovative new solutions to address some of the shortcomings in our current health care system, which was built for episodic care in a fee-for-service world. It was not designed to prevent illness or coordinate care for those with chronic disease. It does not meet the growing demands of consumers who are looking for more value, easier access, greater convenience, and expert help in making health care decisions.
The nearly 10,000 CVS Pharmacy locations are at the center of our strategy to transform care. The stores can become the new front door to health care. We will expand the services available in the pharmacy and MinuteClinic, as well as evaluate services that can be provided in the home.
We envision the stores as community-based resources where consumers can access services and also consult with knowledgeable individuals who are known and trusted by the patient and the family. Importantly, all of these services can and will complement and be integrated with the care provided by the patient’s physician and/or their medical team.
Our vision is to take advantage of our presence in thousands of communities across the country and redefine convenient access to high-quality care in lower cost, local settings. We’ll create an innovative new health care platform that is easier to use and less expensive for both consumers and payors. We’ll put consumers at the center of their care and in doing so, we’ll find ways to address the rising cost of care. I believe that in doing this, we will make a significant difference in the lives of millions of people across the country.
