Breakdowns in the Cancer Journey

The cancer journey spans prevention to post-treatment care, with many steps along the way. This journey is customized to specific patients, and thus can be rife with breakdowns. Moreover, these breakdowns can negatively affect the quadruple aim of best quality, lowest cost and best experience for patients and providers. Further, Dr. Wilfong noted the importance of working with patients to prepare for end of treatment or end of life, devoting time, effort and intention to ensure that it aligns with the patient’s goals and values.
