Vice President, Clinical Informatics and Interoperability, CVS Health
James (Jim) Murray is responsible for strategy related to clinical systems, configuration of provider workflow, and interoperability of clinical data. In this role he sets the enterprise strategy and vision for clinical systems and interoperability, including the electronic medical records system, population health management platform and other complementary systems that support patient health. Murray is also responsible for vendor and affiliate relationships as well as representing CVS Health to provide solutions and guidance to key partners.
Prior to this role, he served as Vice President, Information Technology for CVS MinuteClinic and was responsible for the electronic health record (EHR) and medical record data exchange for more than 1,100 retail based clinics across the U.S. Working with Epic, CommonWell Alliance, Surescripts, and Carequality, Murray has been at the forefront of enabling disparate systems to share medical records and improve the continuity of care.
Murray has more than 25 years of experience in Healthcare Information Technology beginning his career as an application developer for the Department of Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA. In his various role there, he led teams supporting patient administrative systems as well as the development and deployment of a variety of software including mobile solutions for physicians and ambulatory patient tracking. Murray previously also served as Chief Information Officer for a national healthcare consulting firm.
He serves on the Board of Directors for Carequality and the Epic Care Everywhere Governing Council. Murray is adjunct faculty at Harvard University T. H. Chan School of Public Health. He holds a Master of Science in Medical Informatics degree from Northwestern University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Nebraska.
